What’s Trending @Twitter
With such a simple framework, it’s amazing how many things you can do on Twitter: share your thoughts, read the news, get a discount, promote your business, follow a celebrity…the list goes on and on. When Twitter started I criticized it for being an entire website devoted to the Facebook status function, but I failed to realize that this simplicity is the underlying reason for its success. This social networking site has evolved in countless ways ever since co-founder Jack Dorsey sent thefirst Tweet, “inviting coworkers”, in March of 2006. Since my colleagues and I at Lab42 are all active Tweeters ourselves, we were interested to see how other people were using the site. For this infographic, we surveyed 500 Twitter users over the age of 18 to find out how they use the site, who they follow, and how they interact with brands on Twitter. Take a look at the infographic below to see what all the buzz is about:(click to enlarge)About the SurveyThis survey was conducted online via social networks from August 12 to August 15, 2011 among 500 social media users who have Twitter accounts. This online survey is not based on a probability sample and therefore no estimate of theoretical sampling error can be calculated. For complete survey methodology, please contact us at info@lab42.com.
